We help with costs and
offer Direct Insurance Billing

We offer direct insurance billing and work diligently to keep costs manageable. Our services are not covered by OHIP, but are almost always covered by extended health benefits. All appointments are online using PHIPA compliant software and practices, keeping your data private and in your control.

Our Three-Step Care Model

For best results, we recommend every new patient completes a minimum of three visits.

Your first visit is a 90-minute comprehensive intake, followed by a 45-minute appointment about 3 weeks later to review lab results and create your personalized treatment plan. A third visit, one month later, allows us to monitor your progress, make adjustments, and ensure you’re on track.

Since most extended health plans cover at least three naturopathic visits, this structure not only helps you get the most from your benefits, but also ensures you receive thorough, continuous care.

To secure your preferred appointment times, we encourage patients to book all three visits in advance.

Laboratory Testing

Laboratory testing may be advised to properly assess your health concerns.

Laboratory Testing is not covered by OHIP when ordered by a Naturopathic Doctor.

The prices are set by Life Labs or Dynacare, and payment is made through our clinic via credit card on file when we receive (and share with you) your results.

The average cost of initial lab testing averages around $150-250, depending on how recently you have had lab testing by your family physician. And often the cost of lab testing can be covered by your extended health care benefit plan under your naturopath coverage (please confirm with your insurance policy).

FAQ

When seeing a licensed naturopathic doctor in Canada it’s less about choosing natural treatments versus pharmaceuticals, and it’s more about choosing private versus publicly funded care. With an ND you’re investing your time and money (link to fees) to do a much more thorough assessment than is normally accessible via your family physician. We have the privilege of taking 90 minutes in the first visit to chat and really address all of the nooks and crannies of your case. We then have access to more extensive lab testing than is usually covered, and it is totally in your control as to what we decide to test. Many family doctors have the know-how and expertise to properly investigate these concerns, but they are confined by the funding model and time as well as resource constraints therein. With naturopathic medicine comes autonomy and patient empowerment, and ultimately answers and wellness!

The primary difference between a nutritionist and a naturopath is that naturopaths are more extensively trained in assessment, and in Ontario and other provinces and states legally have the ability to diagnose (a protected act). Naturopathic doctors have access to laboratory testing such as blood work, as well as stool, saliva and urine testing. Seeing a naturopath is more akin to seeing a medical doctor, rather than a diet consultant. Nutrition is an aspect of a proper naturopathic treatment plan, but naturopathic doctors also use other modalities such as botanicals, supplements, bioidentical hormones, etc.

Naturopathic and psychotherapy appointments are usually covered by your extended health care plan, and more often your lab testing may be covered as well. Most plans cover naturopathic medicine for $500.

What $500 insurance coverage translates to in terms of naturopathic visits:
First visit = $295 (covered at 80% = $236 with you paying $59 out of pocket)
Second visit = $165 (covered at 80% = $132 with you paying $33 out of pocket)
3rd visit = $110 (covered at 80% = $88 with you paying $22 out of pocket)
4th visit = $110 (covered at 80% but at your max coverage for the year = $44 with you paying $66 out of pocket)

I always say that seeing a naturopathic doctor for 3 visits is very worthwhile. It’s like having a personal health researcher digging deep into your case to make sure no areas of your health are being ignored. And since your coverage essentially covers the first 3 visits, it’s totally worth trying out!

We accept email money transfer, credit cards and can do direct billing to some extended health care plans.
