I am passionate to help you understand your body and get to the root cause of your concern. My areas of special interest are hormonal health with a focus on Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), thyroid health and mental health.

We live in a fast paced world, where a lot of our coping strategies involve avoiding and numbing our feelings. Over time this can lead to a lot of physical symptoms, such as changes to your menstrual cycle, sleep disturbances, low energy, food cravings, or GI symptoms. During my intakes, I spend time discussing the connection between your mental and physical health, as they often go hand in hand. I have a special interest in anxiety, depression and ADHD and their connection to hormonal health.

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome can be a scary diagnosis to receive and conventionally you’re not left with many options outside of medication, weight loss, and medications. PCOS presents differently in each individual and therefore needs a unique approach for you, which is where Naturopathic Medicine shines. A typical first visit together is 90 minutes, where we do a thorough deep dive into your health history, where I can better understand your goals to direct our treatment plan moving forward. I often recommend additional lab work to get a full picture of your health. This data helps to guide my protocols and to monitor our progress. At the end of our first visit, we will start a preliminary treatment plan, which could include nutrition / lifestyle adjustments and supplementation.

The second visit will often be 2-3 weeks after our initial visit, which will give you time to implement our preliminary plan, and give me time to review your case and lab work to create an individualized, strategic plan. Together we will discuss our short term and long term goals with a timeline to follow. You should leave this appointment with confidence in your treatment plan. The plan may include dietary, lifestyle, nutrient or herbal supplements, and other resources that are tailored to your needs.

Your Doctor: Meet Dr. Midori Barker

I was first introduced to Naturopathic Medicine following the removal of my thyroid due to a cancer diagnosis. It was during this time that I began to notice significant changes in my once regular menstrual cycles. Despite the initial dismissal of this symptom as unimportant, I instinctively knew that something was amiss. That’s when I first sought out a Naturopathic Doctor and learned that these alterations in my menstrual cycle were indicative of a larger issue: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), which stemmed from my thyroid dysfunction.

This transformative experience opened my eyes to an entirely new perspective on healthcare and way to live. It underscored the importance of not taking our bodies for granted and the critical need for balance in our lives through nature, nutrition, stress management, sleep, and community.

My passion lies in educating and assisting my patients in their journey towards better health, taking into account their unique life experiences to guide our treatment plans.
